Jose “Pepe” Carmona started playing guitar sat the Lobby nightclub in Juarez, Mexico at fifteen years old with blues man “Long John” Hunter.
After a six-year stint, he moved to Mexico City and played with various popular rock and roll and jazz groups.
Upon returning to the USA, he worked in El Paso with the Mike Francis Quartet, Angel Ramos, Fernando Lechuga, Valerie Camargo, Jimmy Olivas and Manny Palafox.
He played in the house band at Julio’s for five years and performed a solo guitar engagement at the Lancer’s Club lasting ten years.
Carmona is well known in the El Paso area as an accomplished guitarist, bassist and vocalist specializing in Latin music.
